On Saturday, August 1, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, I’ll be giving an artist talk at NIO House Berlin, in the upper floor space on Kurfürstendamm.


In this talk, I’ll share how I got into photography, how my focus gradually shifted from a general interest in image-making to a very specific practice in urban night photography, and how my own visual style developed over time. I’ll also talk a bit about my path as a photographer: from early experiments with more basic gear to working professionally today with events and commercial clients, while still keeping room for personal projects whenever possible.


A big part of the talk will be about the tools and techniques behind the work. I’ll go over what you actually need to get started with night photography, why I think it’s important not to overcomplicate the gear at the beginning, and which technical basics matter most when you want to make strong images in low light. From there, I’ll also introduce some of the experimental methods I use in my own work, including long exposures, slow shutter work, shutter drag, and my own prism-based technique, which is at the core of the Luminous Horizons series currently on display.

I’ll also speak about post-production and editing, because for me that is still a crucial part of the process. White balance, RAW workflow, exposure control, noise reduction, and subtle local adjustments all play a big role in turning an image into a finished photograph, especially if it is meant for print.


After the talk, there will be time for questions and a chance to look at some of the equipment up close.
